Ronit Cohen Quoted Extensively in CDR Article, “To See or Not To See…”
Ronit Cohen was quoted extensively in an article in CDR (Commercial Dispute Resolution) that was published on November 11, 2024. The article, “To see or not to see…,” covered the recent decision by Third Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Stephanos Bibas in the Design with Friends v. Target case. The decision that Target was not entitled to litigation funding documents as part of its discovery, was published on September 27.
Ronit was quoted as saying that “What stood out was the recognition that funders serve as more than mere financiers, but as consultants or advisors in a litigation. The other notable point is that Judge Bibas is a Third Circuit judge sitting by designation in Delaware. So, while it was still a district court opinion, it was authored by an appellate court judge. Such a strong and reasoned opinion by a respected appellate, should, logically, deter future defendants from pursuing litigation funding documents under similar circumstances. Realistically, however, we do not expect much to change.”
